Project Overview
An HVAC equipment manufacturer needed a foam gasket for installation between metal housing components. The existing material compressed unevenly and caused inconsistent sealing around the equipment panels.
The new gasket needed to provide air sealing while also reducing vibration between connected parts.
Project Challenge
The metal housing contained several fixing holes and irregular edges. Standard rectangular foam strips required too much manual cutting and created unnecessary material waste.
The gasket also needed to maintain flexibility during equipment operation and transportation.
OKIN Solution
OKIN developed a die-cut EPDM foam gasket according to the customer’s technical drawing.
The selected EPDM foam offered:
- Flexible compression
- Good recovery
- Resistance to weather and ozone
- Cushioning between metal components
- Compatibility with adhesive lamination
The gasket shape, hole positions and overall dimensions were produced as one finished component.
Project Result
The die-cut EPDM foam gasket reduced manual cutting during assembly and helped the customer improve installation consistency.
Because each gasket was supplied in the required shape, production workers could position and install the component directly on the HVAC housing.
